The common causes of Roof Failure are very common and these can include rusty nails, structural decay and erosion of your roof tiles and linings can also be the cause of your roof being damaged beyond repair.
Slate roofs unfortunately suffer from nail fatigue. Eventually they become inefficient to keep repairing, your roof will get to the stage where the only option is a complete re roof!
The technology of the roofing tiles and flat roof products has also moved on in the last 10 years, they now offer a far greater protection from the elements.
Here at Pople Roofing we stock a variety of roof tiles from leading manufactures and can also source new tiles in the size, shape and colour of your choice, we only use the highest quality products that are installed to the manufacturers guidelines.

If 50% or more of your flat roof needs to be replaced*, then under current Building Regulations, you must upgrade your insulation to the current minimum standard and your Local Authority needs to be notified a minimum of 48 hours before work commences. Failure to comply could result in an enforcement notice from your Local Authority, and you will face difficulties when you decide to sell your property. As members of the competent roofer scheme, we can self certify our own work and provide you with the correct compliance certificate’s on completion saving you time and money.
*Scheme does not apply to repairs or new builds.
What to expect, How we approach a re roof!
- Scaffolding erected in line with health and safety
- Existing roofing material removed (tile/slate etc), which can be sorted and kept for reuse if appropriate
- Old battens removed and discarded
- New breathable felt is then laid over the roof joists
- New tanalised battens fixed into place
- The slates are then reinstated
- All the leadwork is replaced.
- Finally, the ridge & hip tiles are re-secured as original.
- Your property will remain watertight throughout and there is as little disruption as possible
